Forward your missed calls to an agent that answers

Send the calls you miss to an agent that answers, finds out what the caller needs and sends you a summary. How call forwarding works and how to set it up with fone.me.

The short answer

When you miss a call, the caller hangs up or leaves a voicemail you may never play. With call forwarding on your phone and a fone.me number, the call goes to your agent, which answers, finds out what the person wants and sends you a summary.

How it works

Where call forwarding lives in your settings depends on your carrier and your phone. Look for Call Forwarding, then for forwarding when a call is unanswered or busy. If you cannot find it, your carrier's support can switch it on.

  • Your agent has its own fone.me phone number (a Premium feature).
  • On your phone, you set your carrier's call forwarding so calls you do not answer go to that number.
  • When a call is missed, your agent picks up, talks to the caller and writes you a short summary with a transcript.

What the caller experiences

The agent says it is your assistant, asks what they need, answers if it can from what you have taught it, and takes a message if it cannot. The call is transcribed, and the caller is told so.

What you get afterwards

  • A short summary of who called and what they wanted.
  • The full transcript.
  • A way to call back or take over the conversation.

What you need

  • A fone.me account (free to start).
  • Premium, for your agent's own number and call minutes.
  • Call forwarding turned on with your carrier.

Questions

Do callers have to use an app? No. They call a phone number as they always do.

Does it work on my own number? Yes, through your carrier's call forwarding to your agent's fone.me number: missed calls go to your agent, which answers and sends you a summary.

Can I ring my own phone first? Yes. Say "ring my phone first" in the chat and confirm your phone. When someone calls your fone.me number, your phone rings and you hear who it is.

Can I turn it off? Yes. Turn call forwarding off with your carrier and calls ring through to you as before.
